NTA NEET UG Examination Architecture & Official Marking Protocol

NEET UG is evaluated on a 720-mark scale. The scoring model used by this page follows the familiar medical entrance pattern: Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology together represent 180 evaluated responses. A correct response adds 4 marks, an incorrect or multiple-marked response deducts 1 mark, and an unanswered response earns 0 marks. Candidates should always follow the exact Section A and Section B instructions printed in the latest NTA bulletin and question paper because optional-question rules can change by year.

AgeApplied only if notified

Mathematical Normalization & Percentile Calculation Methodology

Raw score is the number generated by the marking scheme. Percentile is a relative-position statistic. The standard NTA-style formula is P = (100 * N) / T, where N is the number of candidates with raw score equal to or less than the candidate and T is the total number of candidates who appeared. A 99th percentile means the candidate performed at or above roughly 99% of the appeared pool; it is not the same as scoring 99% marks.
